A new post on kosher wine!!
Newish.
I am not reinventing the wheel here.
Happy holidays to all!
Kosher wine is for everyone. Delicious wine should be shared by all. Just putting that out there.
Look for things to celebrate!
These posts are aimed for those wine fans who love wine and may want to know more about kosher wine.
“More” for some people is knowing anything at all. No problem. I’ll do a brief overview.
This is my 7th post on kosher wine. Yep! Go to the archive and type in kosher if you want. Count ‘em.

Here is my really, really brief overview of kosher wine should you need it:
Kosher wine tastes the same as non-kosher wine.
I wanted to start with that. That’s why I say Kosher wine is for everyone.
At it’s most basic, kosher wine is made in accordance with Jewish dietary law. Just as Old World wines have to follow specific wine production rules, so does Kosher wine. (I have no intention of discussing Jewish dietary law. I’m talking wine here. I am staying in my lane.)
Most Trader Joe’s wine stores have a Kosher section. Just saying.
You absolutely may have had kosher wine and not known it.
How would you know if a wine is kosher?
It has to have a designation of some sort. The wine maker has to show that the wine production rules are followed.
No different than a certification of vegan or gluten free. It needs to be trusted. By the way, kosher wine is vegan.
The term Mevushal means cooked or boiled. It is a unique form of pasteurization. If a wine is Mevushal, it can be served by anyone and remain Kosher.
If there is a P next to the designation, then the wine is okay for Passover.
Now would be a good time to encourage you all to sign up for the free Ultimate Really Quick guide. I just added a kosher section. Advice for the fun of it!
With all of that said, let’s get to some delicious recommendations:
As always, these two Spanish wines are highly recommended (really highly!):
These wines are beyond delicious. I recommend them in a number of my posts.
These two are often found in the Spanish section of a wine store, and not just in the kosher section.
The Rioja has is 100% Tempranillo. The Garnacha is made from Garnacha grapes.
Now Cardova wine is available in rosé!! Mostly Garnacha grapes. FYI: rosé comes from red grapes.
A delicious wine.
However, look at the back of the bottle.
While it is kosher for Passover (see the P), it is not mevushal. Take note in case this is important to you. This is a good example of how you will see this on a wine bottle.
Another delicious rosé.
I love the title, the wine, and the glass bottle. A fun wine.
You can see that it is from Provence.
It is kosher for Passover. While it is almost impossible to see, it is Mevushal.
Some old favorites from earlier posts:
Baron Herzog wines are still a great value choice.
When gathering a group and you don’t want to break the bank, you cannot go wrong with these. Choose your favorite varietal.
Maybe kick it up a notch?
We actually did compare the two, and had a favorite. You taste and decide for yourself.

Just in case you can’t find delicious kosher wines near you, here are some online stores where you can order from, providing your state or country allows it:
Herzogwine.com (In addition to an online business, Herzog has a winery in California where you can visit and tour. Click here for my post about it.)
